A quick watercolour and coloured pencil drawing finished today.

I was wanting to loosen up a bit, and it felt good to be giving the ink stippling a rest for a moment.

The reference photo is a beautiful image in black and white, so really it would’ve made a perfect subject for black ink. But I’m needing a break from dots 🤣 so here we are. The aim originally was to have it very abstracted, almost sculptural, but I got a bit carried away with feather details.

Here it is as a wash👇

then beginning with the pencils 👇

I quite like this stage even though it’s minimal

then finished 👇

Owl II is A5 size on heavy watercolour paper. So thick and dense so great for layers of work going on it.

The watercolour paint is Essee co natural pigments and the pencils are Polychromos so great quality art materials used. Makes creating a joy and a lot easier when you have fantastic tools.

This drawing is now in my shop, https://morrowmoon.etsy.com
