My latest ink pen and collage drawing is of Kalin from AK Wilder’s Amassia Series.
Kalin was a really interesting subject. My eldest son did the initial posing, but bit by bit Kalin’s own personality and appearance showed himself.
There were a handful of very late nights drawing. In the quiet hours of the night, strange things can happen. I swear Kalin’s hair blew in the sea breeze and things never seemed as static as they should have been. Maybe it was tiredness, maybe it was the dark moon, maybe it was just Kalin playing tricks.
It’s always a good feeling to finish a drawing but this one is kind of sad to complete. I’m really looking forward to reading the Amassia series when they are published, so I can have a chance to reconnect with such a confident, cheeky, mysterious character.
