Finally my planted bulbs have grown and are flowering, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s not a major feat and in today’s world where everything feels so volatile, a flower isn’t worth much mention.
But, when I read the news, I am so happy and privileged to be able to walk outside into my messy, soggy suburban winter garden and look at something beautiful. It is a blessing. I don’t take it lightly.
Here are the first daffodils to pop up, they were supposed to be King Alfred’s but I don’t mind that they’re not.
I was planning on drawing them with dip pen but there’s a fair amount of sickness in my household so it was easier to draw digitally and not have to worry about dip pens drying out while I’m nursing a house of flu sufferers.
Here’s how it turned out, I have a couple of variations on background and colour, if you know my style you’ll know I’m a fan of monochrome so the yellow was a challenge. But here we are, here’s the subject and the artwork.

still might draw this angle later 🌞

dot by single dot still, as always!

I’ve ordered a small print of this last image, I’ll see how it looks in person and maybe make it available in my etsy shop if it looks good.
Stay tuned!
