Here’s my latest ink and collage drawing. It’s from the bougainvillea plant, with collage from The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
It was schmincke watercolour washes, dip pen & Art Spectrum black ink. This week I’ve picked up a bottle of walnut ink (Daniel Smith) for my next drawing, the brown tones are always my favourite for backgrounds but I thought I’d give this deep dark hue a go as the main star. I’m not sure if it’s the same as sepia, but I’m planning a day of experimenting to find out. Even the name Walnut Ink sounds appealing to a botanical lover!
Here is some of the process of making this piece, it measures 297mm x 297mm. It was originally rectangular but I’m really liking square canvas at the moment.
I’ve put it into my shop, link is on my shop page.
