Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of fantastic drawings of crystals. There’s been tattoos (the work of tattoo artist extraordinaire Kaitlin Greenwood) and illustrations and stickers (by the super-talented freelance illustrator Holly Exley).
Up until now I’ve never attempted to draw/collage crystals, I was hesitant as to whether my style could capture the translucency of clear quartz. Also the fact that I work mainly monochrome… but today I decided to give it a go, and the subject was the first crystal I ever bought.
This was a lot of fun to draw, actually. I’m pretty keen on drawing more crystals. I have a soft spot for Labradorite and Amethyst… and Turquoise…and blue Chalcedony… and Tiger’s Eye… and Tree Agate…Citrine…and Moonstone… and Amber… and Jet (although not technically a crystal?) oh and Rose Quartz! Good ol’ Rose Quartz has helped me countless times.
Yikes, so many to choose from. I better get started!
